NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 16: Jane Goodall, UN Messengers of Peace, and Oscar awarded actor Leonardo DiCaprio at the General Assembly before the United Nations Peace Bell Ceremony held every year on this day in the Japanese Garden on the grounds of United Nations HQ. Goodall has been a Messenger of Peace since 2002 with her focus area being conservation and sustainable development. DiCaprio has been an outspoken advocate for environmental issues since setting up his foundation in 1998 which now supports over 35 innovative fragile ecosystem projects worldwide. The UN Secretary General designated DiCaprio as Messenger of Peace with a special focus on climate change in 2014.
